It has been revealed through community site Capcom Unity that Ibuki, the young and boisterous kunoichi, will be playable in Street Fighter V as a DLC character. Capcom employee Harrison Y. took to his blog to lay out the basics:
"We’re happy to announce that Ibuki -- everyone’s favorite kunoichi -- is making her return in Street Fighter V! She has always been a very tricky, technical character so players who are looking for a challenge won’t be disappointed as she comes with loads of new ninjutsu tricks up her sleeve to keep her opponent guessing at all times. Ibuki has always been a very mobile character with various target combos, but she now has even more ways to mix-up the opponent with the ability to glide through the air and toss out ninja bombs, making it very difficult to predict where she will land and where her next attack will come from."
Ibuki first made her appearance back in 1997's Street Fighter III: New Generation. With a play style based around rapid movement, evasion tactics, and lengthy combos, she remains a fan favourite. Given her appearance in the incredibly popular Super Street Fighter IV, her reintroduction is no surprise.
While it is good to see steady post-release support, it remains to be seen whether Street Fighter V can shake off the dizzy state caused by its lukewarm reception at launch. With SNK's release of The King of Fighters XIV just around the corner, Capcom certainly have their work cut out for them.
